C.J. Dennis, CFA®, serves as a Sector Strategist for the Western U.S. at State Street Investment Management. In this role, CJ is responsible for engaging with financial advisors and sharing State Street’s best thinking on portfolio construction. His area of expertise is helping advisors learn how sector-based strategies can be utilized to improve various risk and return metrics for their client portfolios.
A seasoned investment professional with over a decade of experience specializing in institutional asset management and portfolio analytics. CJ has a strong background in institutional-level investment strategy, asset allocation, and Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) solutions. He is a recognized leader and engaging public speaker, skilled at educating diverse stakeholders—from boards of directors to financial advisors—and serving as a trusted strategic partner.
Prior to joining State Street, CJ held senior positions in institutional asset management at Wells Fargo and The Vanguard Group, where he managed multi-billion dollar portfolios for institutional clients. He is an active industry leader, serving as a board member and past President of the CFA Society of Phoenix. CJ holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and earned his Bachelor's in Finance from New Mexico State University.
