Please join us on Thursday at the University of Denver for the first Chapter Event of 2024.

CE sessions will start at 2:30 pm followed by a happy hour at 5:00 pm

Attendees will earn 1 CFP® CE credit hour per speaker session - 2 CE credits for attending the full program.

Meet Greg Geisler, PhD

Our first speaker will be Greg Geisler, who received his PhD from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.  He currently teaches a course called Taxes and Financial Planning at Indiana University-Bloomington.

Dr. Geisler's research interest is focused on how taxes impact financial planning. In the last 12 years, he has published 6 articles in the Journal of Financial Service Professionals and 8 articles in the Journal of Financial Planning. Two of these articles have received the "Montgomery-Warschauer Award" for most outstanding articles contributing to the financial planning profession. 

He has been invited to present on four occasions at the FPA Annual Conference.

What you'll learn in the session:  

Maximizing Tax Alpha in the Accumulation phase for working clients, in the Decumulation phase for retired clients, and for Charitable Giving.

  • Rank order investing through different savings vehicles & paying down debts to maximize wealth.
  • Determine a tax-efficient decumulation strategy for retirees
  • Identify the 3 ways that giving to charity can lead to significant tax savings.

Meet Jack Strauss, PHD

Dr. Strauss has a B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from Duke University.  He has been a Fulbright Scholar of Economics in Kiev Ukraine and performed econometric modeling for the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the Central Banks of Azerbaijan, Egypt, Nepal, and Indonesia.  

His specialty is econometrics and applied economic analysis. He has published in the top forecasting journals, econometrics, and finance, including the Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometric Reviews, and Journal of Finance.  His total citations in the area exceed 3800.

Professor Strauss has taught economics internationally in Spain, Ukraine, China, and Indonesia, and he worked for the Economist for 4 years focusing on Ukraine.  He has been cited more than 200 times by the media including NPR, Voice of America, local Fox News, NBC, and CBS as well as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, USA Today, Newsweek, Yahoo Finance, and Dow Jones News.
