Ben Luchow joined SDR Ventures in 2018. In his role as Vice President of SDR Ventures, Ben leads deal execution throughout the entire process, oversees members of the production team, and executes on business development opportunities. He works closely with clients and management teams to understand their businesses, financials, and strategies. During his tenure at SDR Ventures, Ben has worked on or led a variety of sell-side and buy-side transactions across several industries, including consumer, business services, infrastructure services, and field services. Ben holds his Series 79 securities license. Prior to SDR, Ben worked as an auditor at Ernst & Young, LLC, focusing on the real estate sector. During his time there, Ben was responsible for analyzing financial statements to determine their fairness as well as ensuring client compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Ben holds a Master of Science in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Denver. In addition, Ben holds a CPA license (inactive) in the state of Colorado.

Penny Phillips, Journey Strategic Wealth
Penny Phillips has spent most of her career coaching and consulting financial advisors and institutions. She is the co-founder and President of Journey Strategic Wealth, a Registered Investment Adviser built for advisors seeking independence and hands-on practice management support.
Prior to founding Journey, Penny founded Thrivos Consulting, a practice management coaching company. She has worked in various leadership positions across the financial services industry and has authored multiple practice management training programs focused on helping financial advisors build better businesses and prepare for the next generation of wealth holders.
As an industry speaker and sought-after facilitator, she has spoken at financial services conferences across the US and Canada. She is a monthly contributor to Wealthmanagement.com and runs a Youtube channel called Practice Management with Penny. Perry Mattern, CFP®, CIMA® Mattern Capital. With 27 years of finance and wealth management experience, Perry founded Mattern Capital Management, LLC in 2019 to provide “Personal CFO” fiduciary services to high-net-worth families, successful individuals, and businesses. He has a deeply held belief that people’s financial picture is about much more than their money – it’s about their entire life story. His own story is one of growing up in a small town, working in the family store and on his grandparents’ farm, and carrying with him the values of hard work, integrity, attention to detail, and the importance of family. Perry and his wife live in Evergreen and have two adult children. Outside of family and work, he has a passion for game theory and the study of decision-making, probability and statistical analysis, golf, and mountain biking.
Matt Sommer, PhD., CFA, CFP® Janus Henderson Investors. Matt Sommer is the Interim Head of the Specialist Consulting Group at Janus Henderson Investors. His team consists of various subject matter experts across several disciplines including retirement planning, wealth advisory, practice management, and investment strategies. They provide clients with actionable insight and expertise they can implement into their business practice to retain and gain clients. Before assuming his current role in 2023, Matt was head of the firm's defined contribution and wealth advisory services team and lead behavioral finance researcher and wealth strategist. Prior to joining Janus in 2010, Matt spent 17 years at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and its predecessors, Citi Global Wealth Management and Smith Barney, during which time his roles included director of financial planning and director of retirement planning. Matt received his bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Pace University, Lubin School of Business. He received a doctorate degree (dissertation: Three Essays Investigating the Bequest Intentions and Expectations of Older Adults) from Kansas State University. His doctoral candidacy research was selected for publication in the Journal of Financial Planning and the Journal of Personal Finance. Matt is a frequent guest on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, a regular contributor to Kiplinger's Building Wealth column, and has been extensively quoted in various industry publications including the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, and Investment News. Pat Kummer, CFP® Mariner Wealth Advisors LLC. Managing Director. Pat served as a past president of the Colorado Financial Planners Association and has written the finance column in the Highlands Ranch Herald and Lone Tree papers since 1986. She has a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in public relations. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. In 2022, Pat ranked #4 on Forbes’ Top Women Wealth Advisors Best-in-State list for Colorado. Pat was ranked #5 in Colorado (#128 overall) on Forbes’ 2023 Top Women Wealth Advisors list and in Forbes’ Best-In-State Wealth Advisors in Colorado, ranking #20. Pat was ranked as a Five Star Professional in 5280 Magazine and ColoradoBIZ magazine from 2012-2023. Pat grew a financial planning practice from her basement to close to a Billion in assets under management. She manages the Colorado and South Dakota offices for a national RIA, Mariner Wealth Advisors. She oversees 23 employees and of which she formed 10 teams made up of Senior Wealth Advisors, Associate Wealth Advisors, and an operations assistant. She has mentored close to 50 CFP candidates in her 38 years in business, has been a Chief Compliance Officer, and provides oversite on over 600 households for their financial planning and wealth management. Pat is a liaison for Fidelity and Schwab in their referral partner program and speaks at events and provides training for many of their financial consultants.
Katie Weber, CFP® Goldman Sachs. Katie Weber, Denver, focuses on comprehensive financial planning and investment management for clients in the Denver office of Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, within the Asset & Wealth Management business of Goldman Sachs. She emphasizes the importance of the relationship with her clients and the value of understanding her clients’ instinctual biases and personal blind spots. Using a holistic approach to wealth management allows her to tailor advice to each client and their unique set of needs and goals. Katie began her career at Janus, where she developed her investment acumen before finding her role at an independent RIA in Denver in 2017. Katie is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and provides her clients with guidance in the areas of investments, risk management, estate planning, and retirement. Katie graduated with her degrees in Finance and Economics from the University of Idaho.
